Hi - my first post here :)

I have bought a 1987 124 320E estate. Its a good solid car, but as expected for what I paid for it I have a few niggles!

Can anyone please tell me if it should have automatic door closure on the side doors as well as the tailgate?

I don't want to go looking for a fault that doesn't exist!

Also I sometimes get power loss - very suddenly from approx 1/2 throttle when the engine is cold and wet - Ignition or fuel injection? I first found it after jet washing the engine, once the engine had warmed up it went away. but it has since happened on cold damp mornings.

Any suggestions gratefully accepted.

Cheers

Bill

I'm presuming your model year will be the same - door-closure wise - as my '94. In which case no, the side doors don't have the self/soft close feature which the rear door has.

Can't help you with the power loss though I'm afraid....

As everyone esle has said, its only the tailgate and nothing else. Power washed the engine??? anything to do with the ignition system needs to dried you possibly more than likely have water in the dizzy cap. straight 6 3lt.

if its an 87 car, it'll be a 300 not a 320. The 320 is a later generation of M104 engine which came out in 93 (I think).. If its the 300 it'll be the 12valve M103 engine.

the 6 cylinder is a lovely smooth engine, best of luck sorting the niggles.

Do a forum search on here as there is loads of useful info.
