Hello, I'm new to this forum hoping someone can help.
I've run a 1993 W124 E320 for 8 years without any problems until recently.
I now have an intermittent starting problem. The engine fires and runs for about 5-10 seconds then dies. It repeats this over several restarts. By holding down the accelerator I can eventually get it to start and it then runs OK
I've also noticed the fuel pump doesn't always buzz when the ignition is first turned on...I'm sure it always used to. Should it ?
A second point is the car has had a high idle for several months (1200rpm in P/N & 900 in D ) - which seemed to coincide with when the cruise stopped working. Possibly a worn/faulty electronic throttle actuator ?
I suspect the starting problem could be a faulty Fuel Pump Relay but I don't understand why once I eventually get the car started it then runs OK.
Any guidance would be welcome. Thanks.
