I sent my car to a mechanic today.
He adjust the tension of the cable in this middle of the picture. He said that if it is too tense, the RPM will go higher causing delayed shifting. If it is too loose, the gear shifts are faster. Now my gear changes are smooth at around 2-3k RPM, still very much underpower tho for a W124 200E. A smoother ride is more important.

Its good to hear, they adjust the cable until the two pointers come together.
