Hi there guys,
I've been getting "thumpy" gearchanges for the last few months, and they seem to be getting worse. It feels like there is no difference in the softness no matter what throttle opening. So I tried replacing the vacuum hose...no change.
I have rebuilt other auto boxes in the past, and so I figured maybe I could change the pressure via the vacuum capsule....doesn't seem to be any adjustment
I've been advised that it's probably time (150K) to rebuild the box, and to expect about £6-800. But I used to buy all the parts to rebuild other makes of autoboxes (friction plates etc) for less than £100 a few years back, so maybe that's the way to go.
Few questions:-
Is there any adjustments to make, or other checks to do?
Can I get a gearbox manual?
Can I buy the parts at a reasonable cost?
Do I need special tools?
Is it easy enough to do?
Is there a catch?
Anybody rebuilt one and can answer these.............
