I recently bought a 1988 300se and have been really pleased with it. This morning the seatbelt hand-over arm became stuck in the "out" position. It worked when I first got in the car, then I made a stop in the middle of my journey and the problem started when I got back into the car. The warning light for a defective exterior bulb came on at this point too.

Has anyone experienced this problem?

Any suggestions on fixing it?:)

update

I've had another look at this problem. The passenger's side belt hand-over arm is performing exactly as it should. I have been able to push the driver's side arm back into its housing. The arm will then extend as it should when I open and close the driver's door, but it will not retract.

The exterior light bulb warning light is still on. I've checked all of the bulbs and they are working as they should.

Any ideas?

Not an unusual problem. This kind of thing is often due to a sensor failure. Something for your specialist to look at. I don't think it's cheap.

On your other problem - have you checked the boot light and (if there) the lights inside the door (the ones you see only when the door is open)?

Are you sure that your car is a 124, I have it listed as a 126 as there is no SE in the 124 class
the only info I have is a re set
Move positioner by ign on and close door
Disconnect battery within 30 sec
re connect battery.

You have two micro/limit switches mounted on the rail, at both ends.
the chances are that one needs adjustment. there are screws for adjustment
with micro swtches they are either open or closed, also change over when all three contacts are used. the screw will alter the presure on the lever on the switch.

I have to give the warning to disconnect battery when dismounting.

Malcolm

I think the positioner is for the Headlamps, If I am wrong Bolide will put you straight

Check all the bulbs are the correct wattage. I had an incorrect one, which was causing the warning light to come on, even though the light appeared to function correctly.
