I'm getting a terrible clunk on some gear changes this seems to be coming from the rear of the car, I've been under the car and seen that the Diff mounting bushes are really badly worn. Has anyone had these replaced if so is it a DIY job or a job for an indie, also any idea on price for getting it done by an indie??? the bushes themselves are cheap from Main dealers.
I had these done on my 320 coupe a month ago. Not a DIY job, the drive shafts have to be disconnected and the prop in order to remove the diff. After that we just used a saw to cut through the old bushes, it was the easiest way to remove them. Then using a tube with a few botls pressed the new bushes in. Not an easy job, and not a bad price from MB for 4 hours labour. George will charge you around £200.
