Welcome Kevan196060,

first thing i would check is the wiring loom, check close to the coils where the wires bend, your looking for bare wiring where the loom degrades over time! thats a good start!

Ive spent the last 4 months sorting my E220 estate, the wiring loom around the engine was shorting and causing many problems. Suspect the loom from the MAF as a starting point and then the sensors at the front of the engine.

Email me jib@carrera2.co.uk for more or 07730 777596, I am breaking a good E220 at the moment so I have parts if required.
