W124 E220 remote control unit

Hi everybody

My Mercedes Key Fob does operate the remote control - I changed batteries and still no joy . I have a spare fob and this works and therefore I know car electrics are ok.

Mercedes want £90 for a replacement fob - Can this fob be fixed by a handy man ? If anyone out there has any experience , grateful if you could point to possible components on PCB that are likely to fail ?

Hi,
I presume you have the 'flick key' variety. These are notorious I'm afraid. People generally replace them and I have not heard of any repairs being attempted. The common failure is the button. Try moving your thumb about on the button and it may operate enough for you to be able to keep it as a spare / emergency key.

It may have lost its synchronising Code for C. locking.

Try this;

Press the open button on the fob twice briefly whilst pointing at the car.

within 30 secs, turn key to position '2' in the ignition.
