The oil pressure gauge on my E280 (Sept '93) reads one bar of pressure as soon as the ignition is switched on. When the motor is running and idling at 750 rpm hot, the oil pressure gauge needle begins to flicker rapidly between 2 and 3 Bar. It does this in cycles for about 5 seconds every minute or so.
Am I looking at pressure sender replacement or should I suspect the gauge?
The motor has covered just over 107k miles and in my one thousand miles of ownership has used no engine oil.
Thanks for your guidance and opinions.

I would suspect the wiring, before the sender or gauge. Its probably a bad connection on the oil pressure sender, om the engine. Check & clean the contacts and the quality of the wire, before you replace anything expensive!
