My much loved 250,000 mile 1995 E300 estate has recently involved me in two quite expensive repairs and I've been offered a part exchange for a 120,000 mile W210 1998 E300 turbo estate. It looks a bit of a bus by comparison and I've heard people say the 124 was the last well built MB. Any advice/experiences?

would definately agree with the comments of the w124, but that would be an unbiased view!

Hi

I own both and would say that they both have there strong points, 124 feels like it will go forever compared to the 210. Ok the 210 is faster and handles better but the 124 is quieter and more comfortable. Mpg is about the same for both.

My view entirely but id say you will miss the 124 if you let it go. Not a lot of difference in the prices of the 2 cars the 124's especially the dervs are increasing in value if anything while the 210's havent got to the bottom yet.

210 can cause big bills too maybe more so than the 124.

Thanks for the advice. I think I'll keep the 124 if only because I could imagine shedding a tear if it went whereas I can't imagine doing so for the 210. I also live in an area with bad roads so comfort is a priority which rules out eg A class and avant garde C classes.
