Advice Please,I was advised that it would be a good idea to replace all my fuses(the oblong ones) and should be Merc fuses and not the current ones from Halfords, the local Merc dealer has been trying for six months to source them, not very hard I suspect,no margin! any thoughts please as to where I might get Merc fuses.
Thanks

The Halfords oblong fuses are OK, its the Halfords blade type that give the problems owing to undersized blades.

The original fuses are made from some type of ceramic and withstand heat. The cheap replacements are plastic and don't

When you get a poor connection on a W124 fuse it tends to heat up & melt the fuse or fusebox. So a good-quality, clean fuse is the best thing to have

You can clean fuse & fuseholders with Scotchbrite. Probably best to junk the fuses if you can find some good-quality replacements. If you can't, just clean them and replace them

Just to add to nicks super posting, do what he says,go into a tandy shop and get some non drying switch lubricant cleaner, and this will stop any moisture or arcing taking place.

For the switch liubricant try a Maplins shop or online Maplins, CPC, Farnell or RS. Tandy (Radio Shack) closed all its UK stores quite awhile ago.
