I have a E36 which is causing grief.
Car would not start despite having spark & what would appear to be too much fuel,as it was flooding.Just to cover my ar*e,plugs were replaced, coils, leads & cam sensor were swapped with another sweet running one,& a new TDC sensor fitted. The engine loom is in good condition(as it should be having only been replaced 2 years ago). All this was done in spite of a duty cycle reading that fluctuated between 80 & 140 milliseconds when cranking on a cold engine. As I said,I wanted to cover my butt before going down the ECU route.
Somebody recommended BBA Reman, who upon testing it reported it to be 'extensively damaged'.However, after 2 weeks, they could not get to the bottom of it,& we (amicably) agreed to call it a day.
So we took the plunge & ordered a new MB unit, which arrived yesterday,& the car was duly transported over to MB to be programmed in.
Now we come to the problem-despite having had all the documentation before they would order it,they have just called to say that it is the wrong one,& that another one must be ordered,£3000+vat,because the car has the full AMG Engineering kit. What on earth does this mean!!??
Can anyone help explain,or better still, have any ideas as to how to go forward.
HELP!
:-?

I'd have another bash at repairing the old one. BBA Reman is not the only specialist in town

£3000 + VAT would make for an expensive repair

Hello Nick-looks like I've found one at Mercman. They didn't have one a few weeks ago,but have since very obligingly wrapped up one of their own cars!!!

Would also add that in all fairness to BBA there was no charge at all as a goodwill gesture for the 2 wasted weeks!
