Hello All,
Im new to the Forum.
Purchased a 93 200TE Estate in white. Fantastic Condition. S/H up until 146k (its done 147k) Anyway, a couple of problems with the electrics.

It came with no radio, so fitted a cd player from my previous car, and now the ABS light has come on. I took the radio out and 3 hours later I came to start it and the lights out. Any ideas? I hears it comes on when the 12v drops but I cant see why a radio would make that difference.
It has been fitted with a another fan, infront of the main one, which has a switch, any particular reason why? It runs at under half way.

And last one, the dash lights are out and the centre console, now before I remove the cluster what fuse should I have handy to replace it with? I dont want to remove it, to find its a different type that I have to drive to a Merc garage to buy. Id prefer to buy the fuse and then remove.

Cheers

Everyone should have a Merc in there life. I love it.

Hi James, last first the instrument lights ,in the clauster you have a black knob, just wind it backwards and forwards a few times and they should come on.

I cant quite work out what you mean with the other things.

If the ABS lamp is on the either the fuse blown on the OVP relay or the battery is low

Hello thanks for replying. Ive tried moving the knob on the cluster to no avail. So Im guessing its the fuse on the other side of the cluster.

Ive checked the bonnet fuses, battery is nearly brand new, going to check the OVP, any idea on how I would know if its knackered? Or where to get a new one? If I remove the Radio, after a couple of hours the ABS light goes out, but once I put the radio back in the light comes on.

The fan is a bright orange Fan at the front of the bonnet, behind the grill, which is driven from a switch on the top of the passenger footwell.

HI
I thought the ABS system was hydraulic??
Does the speed signal cause any electrical inteference that affects the ABS light?
