I've heard that some of the W124 models can suffer problems with their engine loom as old age beckons.

Which models are affected?

I only ask as I started to remove the head from my early 91 230e this afternoon and heard some rather interesting noises from certain parts of the engine loom as I moved it out of harms way.

Is this model suceptible to loom issues?

I don't want to self inflict a load of running issues once the engine is back together.

All advice most welcome.

It shouldn't be. As far as I know, it's the 220, 320 etc facelift models that suffer from this, although I'm sure someone will be along shortly who is more knowlegeable than me!
