W124 300TE Estate 1990
Hi everyone. Finally today I have got my 30 year old MB W124 300TE Estate Auto home to my storage garage in deepest Essex after trailering it back from south west France via my friends house in Kent. It has done around 220k miles and has been sitting idle in my friends barn in France for last four years but after a bit of work started and runs very smoothly.
It will be a little project for me to slowly bring her back to good condition, starting with a MOT and general service.
Really looking forward to it and hope that this Forum will help along the way with tips and information.
One thing I want to do is tackle rust on the top of each rear wing which I believe is a common problem, well I will get an expert to do the metalwork and painting but to try and cut costs a bit I was hoping to remove the fixed window and surround which must be needed as the rust is right next to the glass. Has anyone tackled this and if so could advise on how to do it and how tricky it is please
Thanks

The windows are not difficult to remove I did this job on my 124 estate but be prepared for a bit of work once the rust is exposed from recollection it affects the rear door pillar as well. Replacing the windows after repair I left to a professional

Thanks Malcolm. Gives me some confidence as to tackling the windows myself.

Welcome to the forum Trevor . And as you can see you will need to remove the window to eradicate the rust . Best left in the hands of a body shop .
