hiya all, i'm looking for advice on the self leveling rear suspension on the e class 124 estate.
is it possible to remove the complete system?
i.e. fit normal dampers and strip off the suspension pipes, spheres and load sensor?
the original system is very heavily corroded and i'm unable to seperate the system to replace pipes.
i've noticed the fittings to the lower arm differ to the saloon. double bolts compared to single bolts.
any advice will be apreciated. ta

how badly is it corroded?

I've never seen one that can't be rescued.

It's going to be a lot of work replacing the entire system (you'll need to use different springs as well) and ride quality will always be compromised

I'd take the old system apart (with pair of cutters to seperate the pipes if neccesar then go from there.it's easier to recondition/strip down parts once they are off the car

This is a much-asked - and much-answered - question and you'd be well-advised to search the forum for answers. The topic's been covered in detail more than once
