I was doing the Sunday usual of checking the levels today on my '95 W124 E280 estate and noticed that the drain hole in the far back corner near the battery has some debris near the top of the neck.

I have used some thick cable to push through the dirt build up but there must be a blockage in the pipe where the pipe twists at the base of the battery.

I am making the assumption that the exit point of the drain pipe is behind the front wheel arch trimming. If this is correct, does anyone know if removal and refitting of the wheel arch trim is a straight forward job? I am hopeful that I can then attack the blockage from beneath...

Thanks in advance

Hi, the drain does ben sharply but then exits into the wheel arch (you can see the exit above the wheel.

I cleaned all the compost out of mine with a n old speedo cable inner and then a few short blasts from a pressure washer from above - watch out for blow-back!

you could always get Merc to do it (£600 according to another post on here!).

seriously, it needs clearing or you will get rust under the battery and poss leaks into the footwell.
