I've heard that front wings are available from around £25 and are simply a bolt on job, are both parts of this statement correct?

Also, does anyone have an idea of the cost of having two wings professionally sprayed and colour matched to the surrounding bodywork?

nice 201 2.5D 1993 & very nice 129 SL500 1994
Wings at 25 quid may not be the best fit, speak to a body shop who have used them to find out, it might be worth paying more.

I've been offered £150 a side for replace and paint.

If you do the bumper removal and replacement the price will fall, but beware of rusted bumper mounts/bolts that break and wont go back on.

I have two from euro part, yes they are £25.00 and are pattern parts, now if your confident in basic technique these are fine, they just need a little alligning here and there and you should be fine, buts it takes patience to get them spot on. I did mine, got everything spot on then took them off again for paint, as alot of places are much cheaper this way.

If your based in the north there are loads of places but again I'll mention the one I use regular:
Paint master North west is my prefered place, they do a fantastic job and are no frills so dont cost the earth.

(And no I dont own the company, work for, or in any way affiliated with them, as I seem to recommend them for everything!)

I'm in the process of doing mine. They are still getting painted. I've bought the Eurocarparts ones.

I have fitted the cheaper panels to a few of these cars and the fit is quite good, they just need a bit of tweaking here and there,, unless you're an absolute perfectionist they are quite acceptable

As far as I know MB and other car makers use the press and stamping tool for a given number of stamping and pressing,, then they are sold off to the repro makers, so the pattern parts will be a fairly good fit, and as said just a touch more tweeking

Thanks guys.

What form of tweaking do you all mean, do you just have to pull/push the wing a bit and hold in place while getting them bolted down, or is there some interference against other panels or trim that needs a bit of fettling?

Gazza/turnip - I'd be interested to hear about the colour match when your wings are painted and back on the car.

My regular indi has quoted about £200 + VAT for MB front wing for my E320 cab [W124] + painting.I`ve just noticed slight rust both sides so that`s a big bill. I need two. Can anybody recommend a supplier they`ve used who guarantees thickness of metal and fit cf MB part but at a much better price?

The patten ones are not that hard to fit, its a matter of getting a middle of the road fit, so that it is OK from most angles

Thickness of metal isnt really an issue, its actually the preparation and protection of the fitted panel that will decide on the longevity of the panel as said around £25 each from euro car parts or any good motor factor..always unwrap and check for dents and damage before parting with rapidly falling pounds ...If getting wings replaced ask the bodyshop what process they use to ensure wings dont rust..
