Hi Guys, I have been searching without success for ceramic/copper fuses for my 89 W124 300CE Coupe. Has anyone managed to source any recently? I recently acquired the car and want to replace all of the fuses before I start to diagnose a few issues.
Huge selection on eBay. and on Amazon. Available as assorted sizes. Sent from my ONEPLUS A5010 using Tapatalk
Thanks for the reply. I have looked at Amazon & e-bay, quality not right, I want European made ceramic with copper if still available.
cermaic fuses you can even get at halfords. main dealer can also get them. millions on ebay - but quality may be questuinable
Quality ! How can one ceramic fuse be better than another ? there is only 2 elements in them . I dont think Swarovsky Crystal have made any yet.
The quality of the metal on the end caps can be variable. Although with contact cleaning lubricant you can get them to make a decent enough connection. I had to redo all of them in the S123 I had.
Just a thought. why are you changing the fuses. Fuse related issues are generally poor contact due to connection terminal being too depressed or dirt on the connection points. unless there is a problem, seems overkill. a dead fuse is a dead fuse and working fuse is a working fuse.
My plan is to remove the fuses and clean the fuse box contacts, a few of the fuses in the box have aluminium conductors. If I can get hold of decent new fuses, it makes sense to me to go ahead and replace all of the old ones. Saves checking and cleaning the tips of each individual fuse. If I'm unable to source 'Swarovski quality' fuses I will have to make do. On a 123 Coupe I had about 25 years ago I remember that some fuses looked fine in-situ but once removed I found that the conductor strips were cracked.
