W124 - Gear selector light bulb

1994 W124 Coupe.
The lightbulb which displays the P, N, D, 3, or 2, at night has blown. Nothing in my Haynes manual about replacing it. Can anyone give me a few tips ?
1 - Do I need to remove the console to change this bulb ?
2 - Is this a bulb i need to source from Mercedes, or will my local motor shop have one ?

Lift the carpet piece in the odds and sods tray, there is a single screew at the front centre which holds the gear lever cover in place. Remove the screw and carefully lift the cover up and forwards. The lamp is pushed into the front LH corner of the gear lever assembly.

I forgot to mention the lamp type it is a T1 1/2 12v, just like the one in the ash tray.

just to add since you have a '94 model you'll have to remove the centre glove box (two screws inside at the front) to get to the 1 screw for the wood gearshift surround.
