Looking at photos of a 1996 W124 E280 that's for sale, it has completely different controls for the heating and air conditioning than any other W124 I've seen.

Only one wheel for temperature, on the left. Five buttons horizonally across the middle and then three vertical buttons on the right hand side.

Is this original ? Figure it must be.
Was it a late spec change before the W210 came in?

Just looked at a photo of a W210 interior and the heater controls are more like the regular Mercedes ones.

I've tried to attach a photo. Hope that works.

Thanks for any info.

Climate Control was an expensive option. I've had it in a couple of cars and prefer the original 2-dial setup, partly because most of the fan settings are quieter

That said, climate control is easy to operate and normally works well

Thanks to all for the info.
I went and had a look at the car in question this morning.
Think I'd prefer the original 2 dial set up too.

Anyway, still thinking about the car. Shiny on the outside, but a bit grubby inside. Very little service history, and with a huge stone chip in centre of windscreen.

2.8 litre was a revelation compared to our E220 though.
