The previous owner of my W124 damaged the knob and mechanism for the right hand heater control knob that directs the air flow.

The spindle of the mechanism is badly damaged, so the whole thing will have be be replaced.

I have removed the knob and facia, and mounting plate for the mechanism, but I am not sure how to remove the two cables on the back of the mechanism. Twisting the knurled plastic capping that the cable goes into doesn't seem to do anything - do the cables just pull out?

Cheers, Tim

Hi Malcolm,

Thanks - useful site, but couldn't find the part I am looking for.

My best bet is probably to get a used part to play with and then hopefully it will become obvious how the cable attaches.

Cheers, Tim
