Hi

Recently purchased a 1992 W124 300E
I was aware of the problem prior to purchase but just wondered if anyone has any thoughts to what the issue may be?

The brakes/brake pedal are currently operating normally but the previous owner has advised that on 3 separate occasions while driving the brake pedal has dropped to the floor, pumping the brake solved the issue but he took the car into a local MB specialist who changed the brake master cylinder with a genuine MB part, then a few weeks went by and the same thing happened again!
Following this he has sold the car to myself.

Any ideas on where to start with this? I don't know if it could be related but on the last MOT it has 1 advisory and that is for brake lines covered in grease or other material, could there possibly be a leak in the lines? The car doesn't appear to be loosing brake fluid but Ive not had it long enough to really monitor the level myself.

Any advice appreciated :)

More importantly please do not drive the car until you get this problem solved.
