I have an intermittent rh tail light. Bulb is ok and the correct spec. I have cleaned and checked the contact and the cabling--any ideas?

bulb holder?

Are you driving a saloon or estate?

I have had the same problem on my estate and I read from other postings that the bulb holders somehow become unreliable cant remember why exactly. I tried bending the brass contacts to get more pressure but still no joy. In the end I bought two new bulb holders , popped them in (5 min job) and hey presto problem solved. They werent very expensive from memory , you could always try one first to see then if it works buy the other. hope this helps

I had something the same on my estate. A general clean up with WD40. Also try a fiberglass contact cleaning brush (from maplin). A little coppaslip on the holder stops the bulb rattling around and still maintains eletrical contact.

W124 tail light

Thanks to all :) problem has disappeared! However I will replace the bulb holder (Saloon) if it ever happens again.
