W124 Light switch bulb..?

Hi All

I didnt realise until I saw a post the other day that the main dashboard light switch on my W124 was supposed to be lit. I took the knob off and sure enough, the bulb was blown. I replaced it today, but it doesnt come on. Tested the bulb in the heater controls and it works fine. Question-when is the bulb in the centre of the switch supposed to illuminate? Any ideas as to why it isnt working?

I am sure that the lamp is only for the fog lamp warning, do try it

Malcolm is correct it is the rear fog lamp warning light. As far as I know the light switch or its surround does not illuminate, as none of mine have ever done, though I could be proved wrong.

Undo the large nut behind the knob & pull the light switch surround out.You will see the ilumination bulb plugged into the back of this (1.2w capless)

W124 light switches are illuminated though the switch in a 202 210 208 looks similar it does,nt illuminate.
