Hi People,
I have a W124 coupe e320 1995. It rides very high, or looks so at the front.
I have had a look around for lowering parts. What I have found at a reasonable price is H&R lowering springs and suitable shocks (H&R aswell)`It lowers the car by 30mm all round. Has anyone had theirs lowered? Using the same kit? How does it ride?

It's probably had new springs at the front. They may well be aftermarket springs & be incorrect - I'd check that first of all

There's a big old engine at the front there so be careful if you lower it. If there are speed bumps near you you'll find the mudflaps dragging and the engine undertray hitting the bumps if you go too low. I suspect the coupe also has a pretty long rear overhang so that may start grounding

Whatever you do, replace the front balljoints at the same time. £12 each from Mercedes and they perform the useful task of attaching the wheels to the car

Hi

I have a 93 E320 coupe which I wanted to lower. It already seemed lower at the back so I just changed the front springs. I Think it was bolide who said to change them for sportline springs as this was an improvement.
I changed the fronts for sportlines and this did lower it visibly.
But by far the most noticeable thing was cornering ability and straight line stability were noticeably better.
It was ok before the swap but not its much better.
I will do the rears at some point as now they feel "soft" compared to the front.
I think they were around £50 each from the main agents

nice 201 2.5D 1993 & very nice 129 SL500 1994
I lost my sump to a speed hump which loomed up from nowhere so I hit the brakes hard to avoid the big bounce, this lowerd the cars trajectory and the under tray was shoved to one side while the sump clanged the hump, my advice is don't lower it.

Sportline MB springs. These will work OK with your standard shocks (provideing they are not worn out). Aftermarket ones will give you a hard & bouncy ride. You can also get new spring cups rubbers of various heights depending on how many "pips" or "nipples" are on them. 1 being low & 5 being high. Each pip is approx 5mm change. Put your steering on full lock & see how many your car has. They are at the top of the spring, the spring sits in them.
