query re. 'standard' wear if wheels havent been circulated between front and back axles... would one expect some scrubbing on outer shoulders as part of normal geometry? (i.e so the outer corners wear to illegal before the rest of tyre)

Running on Continental Ecos.. approaching 175K total mileage; just wondering whether I should bother with tracking check or not?

Thanks in anticipation...

I would suggest having the alignment/tracking checked on your car as well as the front upper control arm bushings - when these are worn you can alos suffer excessive wear.

I would say overall that your alignment is out - since rear tyres wear much faster on MB's than front tyres, approx by a ratio of 2:1.

It is the 'drive' tyre that wears out faster, so if your front tyres are wearing out faster than there is an issue with tracking or suspension bushings.

Since MB's/Porsche's and Beemers are all RWD, their rear tyres wear faster than the fronts.
