Hi all,

im currently trying to remove my rear headrests from a W124 to upgrade to a leather interior from another w124 i have, ive removed all seats, but i just cant remove the rear headrests, i want to try and keep the parcel shelf intact if possible, so far all seats have gone, the headlining has gone, i removed those plastic clips around the silver poles from the headrest which enables me to get some movement from the parcel shelf, but have now found out the motor with the vacuum is screwed in from under the parcel shelf down into the boot, so can i remove them, also once i undo the motor, then how do i save the headrests

can anyone help

I have the retrofit instructions, but they are of such poor quality they will not print out, nothing I can do on that front.

the poles of the headrest are fitted inside 2 poles - guide rails within the seat backrest.
you need to get at these guide rails because the poles of the headres are held in by a retaining nut/screw.

perhaps you need to take the back cover off the seats.

this information is from the WIS and assuming your car is a wdb124030, document 91-070
this is not the case here as the headrest are fitted to the rear parcel shelf and a re pnuematic, I will look it up again shortly.

have you got WIS, its all there, but its a 24 page description.
and seems longwinded as there seems to be some electrical hurdles you need to overcome by the look of things.

ps also be careful - i guess your pulling and pushing at the moment, dont damage the guide rails

if you have WIS go to keyword search after entering your vin,
search head restaint,
its under section 91.16

hi guys,

bought the WIS set, but before it arrived i worked out how to do it, they are connected to a motor buy a little black clip once you pull that clip off each leg of the headrest the whole headrest just comes loose and you can just pull them out, so easy

The joy of working in car (inside) somedays I could feel so odd laying upside down, feet out of the windows and doors, no way could I eat anything for a while.
So pleased that you have got them out, when do you hope to get it finnished.

glad you managed it without the WIS, well anyway you will have alot more fun now you have WIS.
Sounds like your pretty competetent , so you'll be sat at the PC then running to your car with a set of spanners all the time now.

Enjoy your mods and good luck, hope to see some pics posted soon
