Anyone help a mercedes newbie? I have a w124 26oe saloon, standard suspension. Anyway, in a fit of madness i have bought some 16 inch 8-hole alloys, 8J width. Anyone have any experience with this wheel / tyre combination on the w124? I dont want to spend a fortune on tyres to find that the wheels catch or rub anywhere. By the way the wheels are genuine mercedes, they are offset ET34. Cheers for any input.

I bought a set of ankaa wheels off a 211 for winter use.

They came with 215/55 x 16 tyres and they can catch the outer lip of the front wheelarch on heavy braking or cornering, mind you they only just touch, and maybe a slightly more rounded shoulder would miss.

I ended up getting 215/50 x 16 on the fronts, and they clear fine , but they are as rare as hens teeth cos they really only fitted the ford probe/couger i believe.

Do you know after all the poncing around i've done with wheels i wish i'd left the blessed things standard.

Why do we do these things.
