My 1994 E300D Estate is suffering from a very harsh ride and I was told that this is probably due to worn out accummulators, however, I can't find any accummulators on the car. The hydraulic hoses seem to go from the pump to the control valve and then straight to the shock absorbers. Are the accummulators incorporated into the shock absorbers on this model? I'm confused.

I have also been considering removing the self levelling suspension but I can't get any definite information on what shock absorbers and springs to use, and I can't find anybody who has done the job before. Any ideas?

W124 Self Leveling

I have yet done the job though have got the self leveling valve£147.00 (cheaper from Merc than Euro Parts!!!) looked at trying to change it a couple of weeks ago only to find every bolt, pipe or bracket rusted solid no surprise really 226,000miles and wasn't prepared to start the job without new pipes, nut, bolts etc. be aware that some of these parts come up as discontinued(not true )they have been superceded .
The leveling valve jammed open shoting the rear end up like a hot rob & giving a solid harsh ride, when closed the ride was very soft almost wollowing bottoming out even running empty I was able to reach under & free it off It worked intermitentaly so I removed the link bar once I got it level .
the shock absorbers are very long lived occassionally the spheres go as one side has air one oil there was an article on the other side
www.******************.co.uk The Yahoo motoring groups are also worth a look pty merc sites for older models hope this has been some help
