Hi My 1989 140,000 mile 230te has had full merc servicing from day 0.
I brought it comming up to two years ago, replacing a alternator, rear box, new tires all round, front driver side regulator (last year but knackered again!)and a 6000 mile merc service. It ran a little rough on the idle and I took it to a local garage recommended in the good garage guide.
They changed the distributer cap but there was still a problem so they suggested a new set ot ht leads about (£100 quid). I thought about it and my brother in law suggested these new bosch 4 thingy plugs.
Wow what a difference,  it was like a new car!!! They were about £20 but what a result, I cant recomend them enough, smooth as a babys bum.

Anyway my question is my right hand side driver fog light just packed up, so I changed the bulb but that wasnt it. I changed the fuse but that wasnt it either.
|A friend had a tester and said he wasnt getting anything on 15-16 in the fuse box? Any ideas as It sounds like dodgy wiring which could be mega expensive, and with one baby and twins on the way its the last thing i need (mot Sept!!!).

Hi

Sorry I can't help with the fog lamp problem. But for those who are reading this. The reacuring problem with the window regulator is due probably to the motor teath being worn. When you inspect them closely you can see what I mean. The regulator is made of fairly soft aluminium. Within months the things worn out again.

It can be a expensive game. But to be for warned is to be for armed.

HI paul
I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM WITH YOUR FOG LIGHT  MAY WELL BE DUE TO YOU CHECKING THE WRONG FUSE , TRY CHECKING OUT THE FEED AT
FUSE (4) NOT (15).
YOUR COMMENTS ABOUT SPARK PLUGS INTRIGUE ME ! WHAT EXACTLY ARE THESE MAGIC PLUGS?
REGARDS. Barnie

Hi,

Just changed the motor in my o/s front window.

It cost approx. £115, and only took less than an hour to fit.  I would think it might take longer first time, but once you get the hang of extracting the regulator it isn't too bad.

Old motor would refuse to lower when the door had heat soaked in the afternoon sun.  A recommendation of percussive maintenance from Andy kept it going for a month or so! New motor is much faster and quieter.

Regards,

Richard

Richard

I just changed mine and It cost £67 inc new regulator
from German and Swedish. £115 seems very expensive but I am happy its sorted now anyway.
