As some of you may know I had to destroy a seat hinge in order to get my rear seats folded on my W124 TE. Well, I have had a lot of help from the forum from both Nick and Mike, and I have just procured a new seat hinge assy (£55) and rear wiper (£50) from "The Garage" 01706 852221. The parts are guaranteed good, so it will be interesting to see what condition they arrive in, bearing in mind the experiences of some of you with mail order spares.

I'll let you all know how it turns out.

Regards,

Jim

You will probably get a headlamp wiper moter & a door hinge!
I wish you good luck with your purchase.

I've bought stuff from there, helpful, reasonably priced, and arrived when it should have done.

Not quite as cheap as GSF for some things though, so I mostly use them now.

Parts have arrived, 1050 am!

Reports from goods in (SWMBO) say that the box contained a complete Mittlerot rear seat assy. It is however, soaking wet, the box is dry though. The hinge is also rusty, I'll reserve judgment until I get home and strip it all down.

Rear wiper is in there too, and seems to be the right bit.

I'll post on Monday how the parts look, and if they are any use.

Best,

Jim

Hoorah!

The Garage posted me a complete seat back and base, for the correct side of the car (60/40 split in my TE), plus a used rear wiper motor.

The seat is absolutely soaking wet, and mouldy. Not a big issue for me as I only needed the lower hinge assy from it. I swapped these over and now have seats that fold correctly!

The wiper motor was tested prior to install and is a tad noisy, but working! I regreased the gearbox and squirted WD-40 into the motor housing, which quietened down the operation. I reckon the washer circuit of ther rear wash/wipe runs through the motor, as this now works perfectly too! New blades were fitted tot he front and rear screens, and I chopped up the old front wiper rubber to make 2 new wipers for my headlamps. Job done!

SO, thought he parts sernt were decidedly 2nd hand in condition and appearance, they all did what I needed them to, and have save me a fortune over the price of new parts. In fact the seat and woper from The Garage cost me less than a new wiper motor from MB.......

Thanks to Mike B for the tips and for everyones help. I can now strip the taiulgate out and reassemble in 40 mins!

Best,

Jim
