W124 Steering Box

As no one wants my W124 E320 Coupe I am going to repair her. I have sourced been told a new steering box is needed. Symptoms include whine and shudder on turning at low speed. I thought it was the steering pump. How do I tell?

Also how long will it take a mechanic to change the steering box? And if I buy a box should I replace any of the other steering components at the same time?

Your advice would be sooooooooo good.

And finally! Where can I find a reasonably priced exhaust?

Have you tried GSF or EuroCar Parts

I had a back box for the 300TE from GSF, good quality and not too pricey.

Steering boxes available from MB's recycling plant

I found these people very helpful - naturally they are genuine parts and these Quality A boxes sound great. They may be right for your car.

Only been on the forum for 5 mins and I find a useful link for my W124 E300TD turbo diesel and they should have plenty of LHD ones.
