I have just bought a 1992 E230 fitted with factory sportsline suspension. The rear nearside wheel is at such an angle that the inner part of the tyre is going to wear really quickly, a quick look at the spare confirmed this..  Is this a fault or is there a simple adjustment to put this right?

It can be corrected IF you have the standard Sportline set up. Take it somewhere with four wheel alignment equipment.

Does it have to be a Mercedes dealer ? I  know our local dealer charges £90 minimum.

Needs to be someone who really understands Mercedes suspension geometry!  They are quite different to ordinary setups.

Go to a specialist like Andy, or stump up for the stealership to align it.  Or keep buying cheap tyres !

Hi

One of the first things to make sure with your vehicle. Is that its sitting at the correct height. If the vehicle is sitting low. Then you will get excessive negative camber which will wear tyres on the inner edges. I am obviously assuming that there is no impact damage to the suspension.

FYI. It turned out to be a bent suspension arm.. Having it replaced tomorrow.
