I've stupidly reversed down a steep slope and semi-sheared the tailpipe from the silencer box on my '95 E300D estate. Questions:

1. will this fail the MOT?

2. whether or not, is it possible to weld the pipe back on and so avoid the need to replace the rear silencer box?

3. if not, is it an easy job to replace just the rear box and tailpipe, and what does a rear box and tailpipe cost?

Thank you.

1. it should only fail if its either falling off (not secured on) or its blowing gasses

2. probably able to weld....

3. ECP sell rear box for less than £100. should be DIY replacable if you can get the rear of the car up off the ground (ramps)

Thanks for the replies.

If it's replacing using item 62 from the Russian Site, is it simply a clamp plus sealer job?
