Hi All

Just noticed today that the bottom of the tailgate trim panel on my TE is soggy-I can squeeze water out of the bottom trim piping ! The lock is adjusted in as far as it will go, and the sealing rubber looks OK. Is this a known problem, or any ideas as to causes? When I had the board off a few weeks ago, I did notice that there seemed to be some water inside the tailgate itself-rear wiper arm seal maybe?
All help appreciated! :D

The wiper seal is the main reason for water in there

Any advice on sealing Malcolm? Is it just remove and silicone?

Dum Dum is good, its a non drying compound sealer, the other thing is the hole that the shaft comes through

I wonder if you can still buy the bush 92 in the link

Take a look to see how much play there is in the bush and shaft

I had the same problem and it turned out to be the rear screen washer hose that had split in the tailgate hinge. It took a Mercedes garage about two hours to fix as they had to undo all the packing and thread a new hose in behind the lining and up the pillar.
Regards

Hmm...pretty sure it is rainwater-can't really be the washer hose as the rear washers dont work anyway and I blew the hose through with an airline some time ago, so I know it's empty.
