W124 with ASR - Avoid ?

I've been advised on this forum to avoid a W124 car if it has ASR as an option.
I would always stay away from a W124 fitted with ASR as they have the electronic accelerator system which can be very troublesome and expensive. Ask the question.

I've been searching for a good estate for a while and finally found a 1994 E280 locally, but, guess what, it has ASR fitted. Is this really something to be concerned about if everything seems to be working okay? I mean would an experienced Mercedes buyer walk away from an older car with ASR?

Well I wouldn't. You're buying a car, not just the ASR. Buy based on the car as a whole

If you were looking for a car without complex electronics you'd be buying an E300 Diesel, not an E280. With an E280, electronics go with the territory
