Hi, My 260 SE from 1986 has been starting to make some sounds, when I turn the wheel, both left and right. When the wheel is turned, sounds come from what seems to be the engine compartment, it is sort of high-pitched. Once the steering wheel is centered again, the sound goes away.

I have been recommended checking the power-steering fluid.

Are there any one else who may have ideas as what to do ?

The sound seems to be coming from your steering box okay. Take your friends advice and check it out.

As above, check the fluid level first, this is the most likely cause if it is only making noise on full lock, also check the condition of the drive belt.
