My '91 w126 300sel has suddenly started blowing the fuse which protects central locking, power radio antenna etc.
At around the same time I noticed that if I power my radio on the seatbelt warning lights starts to flash constantly and only stops if i turn the radio back off. I tried replacing the fuse and not using the radio but fuse still blew again after and hour or so.

Anybody seen anything similar or got ideas on tracing fault

Sorted !!!

The wiring for the boot light which runs up inside the passenger side boot hinge had chaffed and frayed its insulation and this was shorting when I opened the boot. this was blowing the fuse and was also affecting the earth circuit to the seatbelt warning light/ radio power circuit.

Don't know if worth checking on your car. mine has 160K miles on it but suppose depends on how often your boot has been opened and closed
