w126 420se ignition barrel

My ignition barrel has jammed up and won t turn at all with the key although there is a bit of movement when key is not inserted.I know nothing at all about these,can the barrel be replaced or does the whole unit need to be changed,if so does this mean taking out the dash to get at it,and drilling it out.any suggestions please.

The key barrel must be replaced,but this can only be done in Key 1,, this disengages the steering lock and can opnly be done in this mode.

I would spray some PTFE into the lock to try and get it to turn
