Morning All,

I own a 1989 500SEL, I have only had the car for a few months and allready have large plans for it.

I need some help though, I have recently purchased some replica AMG monoblock split rims with tyres.

The wheels are 18*9, ET27 with 265/35/18 tyres.

I believe these will fit the back of the car but not the front....doh!!!!

Has anyone on the group ever managed to put 9" rims on a W126.

What is likely to be the problem at the front ?
Do I need a smaller tyre width ?
Would a spacer work to lower the ET ?

Of course the only real way to find out is to give it a try, but the car is at the painters and I just wanted some advice before I have a go.

Many Thanks,

Tomson

ET27 will not be a problem on the 126, since ET25 is the norm....but 9 inch widewheels at the front definitely will be a problem.

You'll get away with it at the back but not the front - your wheels will be smacking the rods/arms everytime you turn a corner. not to mention, 18-inch might just cause some issues with your front wheel arches !

I recommend 18 x 8.5 will be maximum at the front. 18 x 10 is fine at the back, provided ET is 25-27.
