W126 560SEL Tachometer not working

Hey everyone,

I recently acquired a newer 1991 560SEL. Everything is in mint condition, the only exception being that the tach does not work at all. Any ideas as to how to begin a diagnosis? Could this possibly be a fuse somewhere?.

Hi there,

Not sure if it's true of all models, but the pick up for the Rev Counter is on the Coil or the Alternator. Check the wire is connected at either part and then post back.

(Alternator - Dynamo (Charging system).

Take out the speedo and open it you may find a gear come out of place.

I apologize for the lack of updates, its been too bleedin cold here to do any sort of outside work on the car. This week I should be able to post more as the temperature is supposed to let up a bit .
