Winter's on its way and my W126 280SE does n't like the rain. On two occassions a big puddle causes it to stall and misfire! It will restart after a minute or two.

Has any one had similar problems with their cars? Any tips, other than avoid puddles?

I have also noticed that when the cars idling, there are strong exhaust fumes, no visible smoke (other than a bit of blue on cold start). it does n't come into the car, I notice it when I am out of the car. Is this normal with these old cars or does it need some adjustment??

Thanks.

Thanks. I will give the electrics a spray. I am planning a make or break 1000 mile round trip to the highlands in it soon and I am sure it will get very wet.

Do you know whether there is much scope to tune/adjust this type of injection system?
