W126 Guide Rods: Repair procedure

O.K. I have checked the suspension bushings underneath my car: anti-roll bar bushings and everything else look good; the pivot at the end of the guide rod (trailing arm which braces the lower suspension arm) looks rusty; the aluminum braces are not broken. The "suspension brace" is $464 each side; I ordered a repair kit for this (at least, I think that is what it is: it is described as a "guide rod repair kit"). I need some technical information on how to adjust this, as it seems to adjust similar to a tie-rod end at the end of the guide rod.
