W126 300SE 1986, M103 180 hp cat.
I'm the happy owner of an -82 380SE AMG, imported from Germany. I'm in the process of restoring it to a 'good, solid running condition'.
Being a German import, the car doesn't have side indicators, but this is mandatory by law in Denmark, where I live.
I would HATE to have to drill holes in the wings, so my question is whether any OEM manufacturer has made aftermarket W126 side mirrors with indicators?
I know that these exists for the W124 (seen them on ebay.de), but for the W126 I've only seen chromed mirror covers, which are neat, but doesn't have the indicators.
Any suggestions, including DIY-jobs of building a LED indicator panel into the existing mirror housings, will be greatly appreciated - I've spent hours on the Net and on the Forums trying to find a hint for this.

Thanks,
Hans, DK

Hello hans, it is not an easy job to put the repeaters in the mirrors, I have done it on a 129 SL but I have not seen them for a 124 that has.

The hardest job is to make them water tight if you do your own. I see here at this link
http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb0.asp?TP=1

that the mirrors on this car are the same as for the 124, any reason why you cant use those.

W126 and W124 mirrors differs

Hi Malcolm,
Thanks for your reply. Tried to follow the provided Russki link, which provides great exploded views, but no direct link to a DIY-job for the side mirror indicators.
As far as I know, the W126 and W124 mirrors differs in the sense that the ones on the W124 are assymetric - which is too bad, because one can get W124 indicator mirrors at this German webshop: http://stores.ebay.de/Powerstyling-Shop
I've attached a pic of these, which hopefully can be a help to forum members driving W124's, but I'm (alas) still looking for a way to fit indicators, or mirror 'shells' with indicators to my W126

Cheers, Hans

When I changed mine, I only used the covers and fitted them onto my existing mirrors, the Russki link say that 124 mirrors are fitted to the 126, the only snag that I can see is that the 124 did not start till 88-87. It is possible that the 126 had 126 mirrors

I drove around car parks taking photos to compare.
