The offside suspension creeks and squeaks on my 1994 S420 when I drive on bumpy roads and speed ramps. The noise appears to come from the top control arm?! Is this a common fault and is it easy to fix?

not sure if it's same rules here, but: my 190D showed exactly these symptoms and it turned out to be the lower suspension arm balljoint. you could try squirting light oil at the suspect joint - if it goes quiet, you've more than likely found the culprit

'and inside edge tyre wear' is the clue - balljoints probably.

hello. in answer to your creeky question.
it will be the lower ball joint,i had it on two diffrent cars.
the ball jionts are fairly cheap from german/swedish or euro parts.
however taking the car apart isnt a problem its getting the ball joints out and putting the new one in as i tried and you need a press or some very good ball joint extracters.
if you cant do it yourself avoid main dealers or it will cost dear.
i have an s280 95, ive done quite a bit of work on it, i was starting to think
i was on my own.
