Hi all from a newbie to the MB world! Last week I bought a 1991 600 SEL which I love! What a fab car. A couple of minor (hopefully) problems though. Firstly from cold the ASR and ABS lights come on. Drive for 10-15 mins, switch off then on again and they go off and stay off. I've searched the forums, and it appears the first port of call is the OVP relay. I've had a good look for it, but can't find it. Where in the S600 would it be?

Also the rev counter doesn't work. Is this a common problem? What are the likely causes of this?
Many thanks in advance for any help!
cheers
Matt

Hi Matt, to start off your car does not have an OVP relay.

I think it will be necessary to do a few voltage checks, first making sure that you have 12v going to the ABS pump when the engine is running.

This one is straight forward. change the front left wheel speed sensor. this sensor is for ABS/ASR. I take it your car is the 140 chassis?

The wheels sensors are the biggest or number one suspect, but to right itself after 15 mins is odd.
I think you will find the rev counter fault is in the instrument cluster,it is an individual component, the contacts to the PCB can require cleaning or tightning.
