W140 window closing mechanism

I have a 1993 600 SEC just acquired. There is a (vacuum?) system to snick the windows into place by a few mm, which only works intermittandly on the passenger side. I gather there is a pump in the door and it may need cleaning/servicing/replacing. Anyone any advice at getting to it - does the whole door trim have to come off? Are these repairable or best to replace.

I'm a new member and any advice much appreciated

I have since established for the US website the problem is almost certainly a micro switch in the door
