W163 Cigar Lighter Problem

I have a 2003 ML350. The cigar lighter in the cabin does not work.
I have replaced the fuse, and the 12 volt output in the boot works fine.
I have tried to bend out the contacts in the cigar lighter, to ensure a good contact (I'm trying to use a Satnav).
In order to avoid having a long extension cable to the 12v output in the boot, are there any common issues with the cigar lighter to look for please?
The Satnav connection feels 'tight' so I think the contacts are OK.

[The cigar lighter itself does not work either].

I think that you will have to lift the panel and check that it is connected OK, they are not expensive to replace.
