W163 Loss of lighting on Dashboard

Has anyone had problems with W163 Dashboard lighting? The dispalays at the bottom of the clocks are lit but nothing else is.
Car is the facelift model ML270 made in 2005. I suspect it might be the super ribbon cable connections that MB used on the W210 clocks onwards.
Not a great move by MB building in problems for owners of older vehicles.

Hi, no ribbon cables behind, it is very straightforward to replace though. there will be loads on fleabay.
